Did You Know?
Engagement Stories/Idea's

A little over 2 years ago Danise and I emailed each other in an effort to meet one another for a date. Well, as fate would have it, it never worked out for our planned meeting and we sort of lost touch with one another for a while. Then, in late October, I went to a Halloween party at a friend's house. This friend was someone that I worked with in the past and also someone that graduated in my same class. However, I've never been to one of his parties before. That evening at his party, Danise walked in and instantly recognizes me. Now, I'm in a full costume and Danise and I only sent pictures of each other back when we were supposed to originally meet. I guess it was destiny that it was this night that we were supposed to meet. On my fourth date with Danise I went over her house where she made me dinner and we just chatted about various topics. It was on that night that I knew that there was something very special between us. Now, completely out of character for me and unbeknownst to Danise, I wrote her a heartfelt letter the next day telling her how I felt and how I knew that she was the one. I closed this letter by telling her that it is difficult because I knew that I could not share this with her until sometime in the future. I mailed the letter to myself and then kept it in my safe for future storage. Approximately two years later from that Halloween evening, I was searching for a special engagement ring that would represent how much Danise meant to me. After searching and visiting local jewelry stores, I finally found a ring on-line designed by Mark Schneider and the only place that I could purchase it in upstate NY was at West & Company in Webster, NY. I first spoke with Robin and then later with David. I immediately became comfortable with West & Company because they were professional, helpful, and David is a certified gemologist. I knew that I would now be dealing with someone who was truly a professional in his field. They found a high quality diamond that exceeded my expectations. This past December was now over two years from that night that I wrote the letter, and I took Danise to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a mid December quick getaway. Additionally, I created a movie where I incorporated all of the pictures from the events that occurred the past 2 years. That first night, while back at the hotel room, I told Danise that I wanted us to watch a movie. It was then that I put my movie into the DVD player which ended in my proposal to her. Next, I gave her my letter, unopened for more than 2 years. Danise was at a loss for words. Thank you Robin, David, and the staff at West & Co.
Gabe and I were getting ready to go on a much-anticipated vacation to Copenhagen, Denmark and had been having a few “date nights” before he left to fly over a week prior to my departure. We decided to go out to one of our favorite local restaurants which was where we had our very first date almost three and a half years earlier. After dinner we went to the Reservoir near our house to watch the sunset and enjoy a piece of cheesecake we had brought with us. As I was sitting on the picnic blanket Gabe brought the cooler back to the car and returned with a gift in his hand. While I was surprised, he has always been very sweet, and it is not unusual for him to surprise me with a small gift for no apparent reason. He had written a message in the card about how much he was looking forward to the adventure that we were about to go on. Because we were going on the vacation, I assumed he was talking about that adventure, and proceeded to open the gift, which was the book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, which only reinforced the vacation adventure idea. It was only after I began flipping through the book that I noticed that Gabe had cut out a hole in the middle of the book and hidden the ring box inside. Shocked, I looked up to see Gabe kneeling on one knee and nervously smiling from ear to ear. I could not believe what was happening! I was Shocked and still a little confused when Gabe said “now re-read the card” and I realized then that he was talking about a much different adventure!
